Barbarian Invasions

Just back from watching Barbarian Invasions (Les Invasions barbares). Wow.

Just Wow.

A sentimental film that manages to work for me, incredible. It's funny, provocative, political, clever, meaningful but overall genuinely touching and positive. Only the last few minutes get badly mawkish, and I can forgive that for the rest of the film. It's by no means flawless, but it's a wonderful film.

I'd quite happily go and see it again on Saturday night if anybody wants to come along.
