Well... the German lesson was tough but not impossible. I get the impression that I'm probably in the less capable half of the group, but given it has been over 12 years since I took my GCSE this doesn't really surprise me. Definitely somethings that I hadn't thought about for years were slowly filtering back over the lesson. It's probably the correct level for me to be attempting to learn at, I'd get bored otherwise.

My aims are to learn more of a foreign language, and to feel confident about using foreign languages in general. I only have a bit of German and French (er... and possibly a smattering of Latin from the year or two of that I did around age 12), and German is the one that interests me the most. I've found that I get utterly tongue-tied when I have to try to use what I have of other languages outside the very confined bounds of a restaurant menu or similar. Even when in theory I have the vocabulary to say something meaningful, I'm not in practise at constructing sentences around a limited vocabulary. I end up stuck because I can't think of a way to say what I'm trying to express.
