I have recently discovered the joys of downloading vast quantities of fansubbed anime, and actually getting some value from the vast sums I'm paying NTL for a cable modem I'd otherwise use at weekends and briefly in the evening. Bittorrent servers that limit download rate to the amount you've uploaded are useful for keeping under NTL's evil 1GB/day soft limit.

However, I'm rapidly running out of disk space. The answer appears to be a DVD writer. This would also give me the ability to watch DVDs at home. Scan have an OEM Sony drive (DWU-10AX) that appears to do everything for £164. Hm... I didn't really want to start rebuilding my bank balance did I?
