I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, but the latest slashdot poll is really quite a sad reflection on the world:

The question is "Biggest Threat to Humanity?". The option with the fewest votes is "Starvation".

The question did not read "Biggest Threat to the Comfortable Life of the Reasonably Well Off in The US".

I hate thinking up aliases for use online, which is probably why I usually just use my normal nickname. However, I screwed up registering for KGS as “mobbsy” so I now need to think of something else. Everything I think of seems inappropriate, pretentious, stupid or irrelevant. I'm trying to find a name that fits me that isn't me; it doesn't seem a very natural thing to do.

This isn't a call for suggestions.
