Well, I'm back in Cambridge.
That was really a very good trip. I feel useful and competent at my job, and there was also plenty of spare time to see new places. As a result I'm feeling more relaxed and content with life than I have for ages.
Singapore is a lovely city; clean, safe, well-ordered, efficient, cheap (except booze), and generally an easy place for a Briton to be in. I'm not sure I'd like to live there, but I'd certainly go back. Jakarta is er… less so on nearly all fronts (except the cheapness), but even so it was a fascinating place to visit, once.
