Jersey seems quite a nice place, haven't really had a chance to see much of it, spending most of the daytime in a data-centre, and the two evenings socialising with coworkers. It's good to get a chance to meet some of them properly (i.e. outside work over a meal and a few drinks). Last night's dinner was at a Portuguese restaurant, where I had espetadas, a large steak kebab on a skewer. Most people ordered these, and they came suspended over a communal bowl of chips so all the juices and garlic butter dripped down off the meat onto the chips. Mmmm... healthy.
Also got to see the main Play.com warehouse yesterday, which is an impressive operation and gives a more concrete reality to the values in the database tables. Seeing the physical process also makes it easier to understand what's needed from the database.
