Made a sauce with soy sauce, sesame oil, rice wine, plum jam, vinegar (should have been rice, only had cider), five spice and ginger. The plum jam and vingar really worked for a sweet/sour effect. Used it to deglaze the pan I'd been cooking onions and chicken in, then reduced the sauce. The overall effect was worthwhile.
I also watched the first few episodes of Hikaru No Go, an odd anime that seems largely designed to get people interested in Go. It is a bit slow moving in places, but manages to leave you really desperate to find out how the match left as a cliff-hanger at the end of many episodes finishes. The anime works though, I now feel I should make another attempt to learn how to play Go at least to the poor standard that I play chess.
