Finally started facing Gnu Go on 19x19 board - taking 6 stones.

Goodness, there's a lot of space to screw up there. Lost one game horribly, went over that game carefully, and just won the next one, by 8.5 moku.

I think I'll have to learn to play more cautiously around the edge and against cuts until I really know what's safe and what isn't. Better to accept the loss of a few points and defend solidly than to incompetently fight it and lose much more.

Update:
...and I won again by 24.5 moku - I do think some of that is learning the fairly formulaic fuseki Gnu Go is using. Another couple of games along these lines, and I'll let myself out onto the 'net.
