I'm back in Cambridge. Today I watched somebody's vibrator fall out of their suitcase on the Luton Airport baggage reclaim, found out that the delayed flight meant that the next coach was at 03:25 so got the train instead, then got home to find I'd accidentally shampooed a load of books.

Christmas was our usual low-key family thing; couple of obligatory social events, obligatory massive over-eating and over-catering, obligatory drinking of much fine wine, madeira and whisky. I'm not really complaining. Caught up on lots of reading, read books 2, 3 and 4 of Patrick O'Brian's seafaring novels, Iain Banks' book Raw Spirit, and got well into Dan Simmons' novel Ilium.
